Our community, the community of cosmic rays researchers suffered a huge loss on May 18, 2020. Michael Alania, Georgian and Polish scientist, was born on April 30, 1935 in Chobi, in Georgia. He was a designer and the first PI of the neutron monitor in Tbilisi. His contribution to research in the field of cosmic ray physics as an author of several hundred articles published in renowned scientific journals and actively participating in international conferences is significant. Michael Alania’s original ideas became an inspiration for young researchers, not only in Poland and Georgia, but all over the world.
